Healing the Whole Person is a holistic, whole-person approach to yoga and mindfulness for cancer
Our Yoga for Cancer CPD and Teacher Training courses will give you a grounding in the diverse aspects of working with those on the cancer journey.
You will understand the psychological, emotional and physical reality of cancer, so that you can share yoga therapy in a way that is physically and emotionally safe for the attendees.
You will also learn specialised therapeutic movement for common physical limitations caused by the illness or by the treatment. This includes pain management techniques and therapeutic applications of other facets of yoga practice. Our aim is to serve the whole person - body, mind, spirit and relationships.
This course is applicable to working with cancer and other life-threatening and life-limiting illnesses.
On completing the course, you will be competent at sharing yoga safely and compassionately with anyone affected by cancer.
What We Offer
About
Course leader Morven Hamilton
The Healing the Whole Person Yoga for Cancer course is designed, written and led by YAP accredited senior yoga teacher and breast cancer survivor Morven Hamilton.

Morven has been teaching yoga since 2008, specialising in yoga therapy. She is also a trained Mindfulness teacher.
She developed the Healing the Whole Person approach to Yoga for Cancer between 2010 and 2016 while working as yoga teacher and course facilitator at Penny Brohn Cancer Care, the UK's leading complimentary cancer care centre.
In 2019, Morven was diagnosed with breast cancer and received treatment in 2020.
A Whole Person Approach
A whole-person approach to yoga is a way of honouring personhood as body, mind, spirit and relationships, as opposed to a body-based approach. Diagnosis affects all areas of life, from mental and physical health to financial and relationship health. The whole-person approach draws on the deepest teachings of yoga and its scientifically proven techniques which promote healing on all levels of being.
The programme is based on a modified version of Hatha yoga, with therapeutic application in mind. Please note that our courses do not qualify you as a a yoga therapist.
Mindfulness for Health is incorporated into this programme to help cultivate a healthy mindset and develop pain management skills.
